Monster Digital As digital media is being created on many different devices using multiple types of memory, a need for more simplified and consolidated access to memory has arisen. To fill this need, Monster Digital has released the Mobile Personal Cloud, an innovative multi-function wireless media access hub. Monster Digital, a leading provider of premium memory solutions, is confident users will find the lightweight, smartphone-sized device an exciting addition their digital ecosystem, especially when it comes to mobile entertainment.
Flexible memory and storage access
The Mobile Personal Cloud is equipped with dedicated ports for SD and microSD cards up to 64GB, as well as standard-sized type A USB for flash drives or external hard drives up to 2TB. Micro USB is used for wired connectivity and charging the onboard battery. When a PC or Mac is connected via the micro USB port, it acts as a reader and hub, simultaneously giving access to memory cards and/or a device plugged into the type A USB port. Not only can data be viewed or played, it can be transferred among the connected storage. For example, an HD movie file from an SD card can be copied to an external hard drive.
Greenliant Systems, a leader in energy-efficient, highly secure and reliable solid state storage products, is now mass producing its eMMC NANDrive embedded solid state drives (SSDs). The GLS85VM devices operate at full industrial temperatures between -40 and +85 degrees Celsius, giving customers data storage in a small, ball grid array (BGA) form factor that can withstand the most severe conditions.
All eMMC NANDrive SSDs have the same footprint in a 14mm x 18mm, 100-ball package, with 1mm ball pitch for increased long-term reliability. GLS85VM devices are compatible with JEDEC eMMC 4.4x and 4.3 standards. With a focus on meeting stringent customer requirements, Greenliant's fabless manufacturing operations are ISO 9001:2008 certified and eMMC NANDrive is manufactured in ISO/TS 16949:2009 facilities.
"From industrial computers and sensors to instrumentation and automotive systems, eMMC has been rapidly adopted by Intel® Bay Trail and a growing number of ARM®-based platforms," said Nobu Higuchi, vice president of application engineering and product marketing, Greenliant Systems. "eMMC NANDrive is ideally positioned to serve a variety of high-reliability applications."
Strontium Technology has launched On-The-Go USB drives for smartphones and tablets. These small USB drives have a standard USB on one end and a micro-USB on the other end, so they can be accessed directly from a computer or any OTG-supported smartphones or tablets.
"With Strontium On-The-Go USB drives, consumers can transfer files easily between smartphones, tablets and computers. They can copy songs, pictures and movies from computer and play them on their smartphone or tablet when they are on the move. Or they can copy files from one smartphone/tablet to another smartphone/tablet without needing WIFI or connecting to a computer. They are also storage option for smartphones without MicroSD card slot. Our On-The-Go USB drives are the smallest OTG drives in the market, so you will not have a huge device coming out of your phone," said Mr. Vivian Singh, President and CEO, Strontium Technology.
Gigastone Corporation, a leading Taiwan-based technology manufacturer that is making its North American debut at 2014 International CES, will introduce its new On-The-Go USB/MicroUSB drive at the show. The handy item allows up to 32GB of content to be easily stored and transferred in either direction between a computer or laptop and an Android smartphone or tablet. It will be showcased at CES in LVH Hospitality Suite 17-121.
"People today face a dilemma of having material stored on their PC or laptop and needing it on their smartphone or tablet," said Sherry Chapman, senior director of marketing at Gigastone. "Our new dual-drive, bi-directional On-The-Go USB/MicroUSB connector is the perfect way for 'on-the-go' individuals to save, backup, or transfer files. And the process is as easy as 1-2-3."
Recognizing the need for a faster, more secure solution for backing-up and transferring smartphone and tablet content without using Wi-Fi or the cloud, Monster Digital has released the Advanced Series of dual connector Mobile USB OTG Flash Drives. Monster Digital is a leading innovator and provider of premium quality memory and storage solutions, specializing in the rapidly growing flash based memory category.
The Advanced Series USB Flash Drives are USB On-The-Go (OTG) compatible, and vastly expand on the usefulness of mobile flash drives in today's digital ecosystem. Most beneficial to users is the dual USB connector feature, consisting of a standard-sized type-A USB connector, as well as a micro USB connector. Micro USB is the standard format common to most Android® based smartphones. So photos, media files, contact information and other vital content can easily be transferred to the drive, saved there as a back-up or, using the standard-sized USB connector, moved onto a Windows PC or Mac. Additionally, given that most of today's TVs and other home entertainment equipment has a USB port, the drive allows for videos and photos created on smartphones, tablets or computers to be easily enjoyed on a large screen without any additional players or cables.
